2 days before the WBFF U.S. Central Championship!

Today was a packed day.

Did some really moderate pace cardio.

Went and took my transformation photos with my trainer Micah Lacert.  He’s the 2012 WBFF Muscle Model World Champion and owner of HitchFit.  Also a really great guy.

The HitchFit gym were we did the shoot was packed with athletes getting ready for the WBFF.  You could feel the energy in the place.  Going to be such a crazy night Saturday.

I also finally settled on my evening wear for the show.  So hard finding stuff that fits me properly, because I have broad shoulders.

Starting to carb up now which is nice.  However, that said, my water intake is going down and down and down, so it doesn’t make it fun.  Plus I’m not aloud any sodium.   I’m going to be really dry at the show, but I’m looking forward to it!

Why I sign off with Stay Fit & Live Healthy.

Fitness versus health.  Know the difference?  I didn’t when I got started.

When you google the definition of fitness the first two results are:

1. The condition of being physically fit and healthy
2. The quality of being suitable to fulfill a particular role or task

When you google the definition of health the first two result are:

1. The state of being free from illness or injury
2. A person’s mental or physical condition

What I take from this is that fitness or being fit  is the ability to do stuff effectively while avoiding injury.  Running 10k, lifting your body weight, lifting double your body weight, jump high, being flexible…etc.    Healthy is then more a state of being where you are injury free, able to do stuff physically and you are mentally there.

So is a couch potato healthy?  Maybe.  But an active fit person will probably be more healthy.

Would a bodybuilder who lifts 500+ pounds, wrecks his knees and joints, and is barely mobile be healthy?  Maybe not.  They may be more fit then someone lifting half that weight but not necessarily more healthy if there fitness quest has caused them injury and forces them to live with pain.

So my moto is to find balance between being fit and healthy.  I believe that by staying fit, while avoiding over extending your physical abilities that you will intern be able to live at your healthiest.  I also believe that finding balance with your spiritual life for whatever you may believe, is also very important to achieving a healthy balanced life, but that’s a topic for another post.

So…

3 days to go – First time in a magazine

So today I saw my ugly mug show up in a copy of Ink in Kansas City.  Local newspaper.

50,000 copies printed.

They are doing athlete features for the upcoming WBFF show.  It’s not a spread or cover but its technically the first time I am in a publication for fitness.  Kind of cool.

The weather here is beautiful.  Warm in the sun and with a slight breeze.  Makes for perfect patio weather to cook up some tilapia and asparagus.

I know lots of people in fitness who get really sick of tilapia as they near their show date.  I can understand that but that’s not me.

The trick is to buy fresh tilapia not the small frozen fillets.  It costs a little bit more but it’s so much better that it’s well worth the extra couple bucks.

Right now I can’t put much on it so I just cook it with real lemons, black peppercorns and asparagus.  So healthy.  So good.

Live Fit & Stay Healthy.
