Journey completed or just started?

Today I weighed in for the first time below 10% body fat!!  Having completed another one of my goals, I’ve come to realize two things.  One, I need new goals, and two I feel amazing!

It’s probably the adrenaline from my morning run, but I definitely hit a high when I weighed in at 9.5% bf and realized that I’ve completed this lag of my fitness journey.
Guess I will need to rename the blog.
I still have 33 days left in my Hitch Fit Fitness model transformation program and I plan on taking full advantage of them!  I will also continue posting updates here to hopefully inspire others towards reaching their fitness goals.

Phase 2 begins…

So this week I’m starting phase 2 of the workout portion of my HitchFit transformation, which is good because my body was starting to adjust to the workout.

There are three workout phases in the transformation.  I’m quite happy to say that so far this phase doesn’t have ridiculous amounts of reps and is instead more focused on intensity in short periods of time.  I still get my ass kicked every time I’m in the gym though.  The timed core exercises this time around are killer!

An interesting thing I’ve noticed, since I’m a fitness nerd who wears a heart rate monitor / calorie counter, is that the amount of calories burned and my heart rate zones are averaging out to be pretty consistent with the first phase.

Another thing I’m doing differently is moving my cardio to the morning.  This should increase my overall metabolic rate for the day and hopefully burn more calories.

Oh ya happy belated Halloween!   I hope you enjoyed some candy for me, since I couldn’t indulge myself.  I did however make a chocolate protein soufflĂ©.  Here is the recipe if you are interested in trying it http://robriches.ning.com/page/nighttime-souffle

Transformation Update

So it took about a week to get the workout and nutrition program designed for me, which is very reasonable considering how busy/popular my online trainer is.

I officially started this transformation Oct 3rd, which means I will finish on Christmas Day.  How perfect is that!?

I have been sticking to the diet and workouts.  Breakfast is hard to eat.  Workouts I crawl my way through.

They initially took me 2 hours to complete but I’m down to 1h 30min to get through them.

2 weeks in ( actually 1 week and a half but who’s counting) I dropped 10 pounds and 2% body fat.  Ya that is a little nuts I know.  Since then my weight loss has slowed which is typical but I’m trying to average at least 2 pounds of fat loss a week.   This won’t always reflect in my weight as I’m also gaining muscle.

Today I weighed in at 195 pounds and 12% body fat, which is awesome because it means that since loosing the 10 pounds and hitting 13% bf I’ve lost fat and gained some muscle.   I’ve noticed this visually as well, which is very encouraging.

I’m nearing the end of my 3rd week and already I’m noticing I have more energy and my will power to resist temptation is unbreakable.  This surprises me a bit because I’m surrounded by crap food all the time.  My roommates, though my best friends, always have crap food in the house. Pizza, McDonalds, chocolate and candy laying around you name it they have it.  I will not give in though.  I have a goal and I will reach it!
