Day 5 – In Kansas. What now?

So last night I arrived in Kansas after driving through the craziest lightning show I’ve ever seen.  The sky was so cool.  There was even hail at one point.  No joke.  Guess I’m a bit adventurous since I think big storms and driving through them or cool.

Now that I’m here I’m spending my time mostly eating chicken, tilapia, asparagus and almond butter.  Plus drinking about 8L of water.  I’m also working remotely so that I don’t have to take any extra time off work.  Sometimes it’s nice when your job is on a computer,  sometimes not.  If you don’t schedule breaks you could technically never stop working.

Long walks have also become part of my workout regime.  To much high intensity cardio will burn through my muscle at this point.

I’m still holding a bit of fat that I want to cut before the show.  Abs and lower back are always last to go, but since this is my first time cutting like this I’m worried I won’t be ready.  Sigh.  I guess it’s just nervous.  Some of the guys I’m going to be standing next to have been doing this for years as their jobs.   I have only been working out consistently for about year now and I’m stepping on stage with the pros. Aaa!  Fingers crossed I don’t embarrass myself.

Nerves aside if I look at the positives I’m quite happy.  I’m in the best shape of my life, I know more now about nutrition and exercise then I ever have and I’m meeting a lot of positive inspiring people.  The journey has definitely been worth it.

If you have any questions or things you’d like me to write about in future posts just ask them in the comments below.  Thanks

  1. Great update and really inspires myself to walk in your footsteps. Sure there are guys that have been doing this since they finished high school or years infact, but needless to say all your efforts will show and what you do is down towards your committment. I am happy and sad that I will see it, but I will not be there (passport issues), however I am excited to see you on stage and the photo’s. Keep up the updates, post pics and video’s. THIS IS IT BABY!!!! As Micah say’s ‘Go kill the stage and rock the place’. It’s your time and your time to shine. Great job Jon.

  2. Remember, at some pont, everyone there had a ‘First’. You are there to learn from these people as well…and you will do Your Best and that will be what YOU need to do. You have come a long way..be proud of your accomplishments so far …greater ones ahead. All the Best hon. For what it’s worth, I think you’ve done an amazing job.
