Day 3

Why is it that my calves were fine in the morning but come afternoon I am hobbling around and can hardly walk?    …I’m not sure either, but I plan on finding out tomorrow. lol  Seriously, I’d have expected them to be killing in the morning, but they were fine for my morning workout.

Anyways. Today bright and early…ok only early for me…I was at the HitchFit downtown gym with Micah and we destroyed my chest.  I definitely have to work on my endurance.  It’s easy doing push ups, but not after maxing out on multiple variations of bench press sets.

Endurance needs work.  Check.  Arms need work. Check.

Micah also gave me my custom plan for at least the next 6 weeks.  It will be constantly changing as I progress through the 12 weeks included in this was my nutrition plan.  Fairly strict not going to lie, but it will be manageable…I hope. haha

I also bought a week pass to a community recreation centre that is 5 minutes away from where I’m staying.  Mainly just for the hot tub and pool, but it does also have a fairly nice fitness facility for any extra work/cardio I will need to do.

Tomorrow is a leg day…I’m in trouble. :D

Day 2

My trainer Micah is known in the industry for his killer calves, and after today’s calves workout  I understand why.  What he took me through is tame in comparison to what he does for his calves, but I was still shaking at the end of today’s session.

Intensity is such an important aspect of working out, and over the past couple of days I’ve come to realize that.  When you are working out by yourself it can be hard to get to the right level of intensity needed to stimulate change in your body.

I’m a big believer in listening to your body.  For example being hungry, thirsty, tired or in pain are all indicators that your body requires something.  So my new indicator that I worked out at 110% is whether or not I’m shaking at the end of the workout.

When was the last time you were physically shaking after a work out?

Jonathan

Kansas Day 1

Competition Prep – Day 1 – Saturday February 18th

Ok so after driving 20h in a day and a half…it’s suppose to take 22h by the way. :) Anyways…I made it to the downtown HitchFit gym for 9am to meet Micah and start my competition prep program. Wahoo!

In my past blog posts I set the condition that I’d step on stage if I could get my body fat below 5%. So Micah writes down the goal of getting to 4.99% takes my measurements and says it’s doable. Of course that now throws the ball into my court to do the workouts and follow the nutrition plan.

Alright lets do this! Challenge accepted!

12 weeks out, World Champion as a guide, let’s get stage ready!
