The end is only the beginning…

First let me say Merry Christmas to everyone!

I hope all of your holidays have been as enjoyable as mine.

I went over to my parents’ place Christmas Eve to play board games, eat good food, and enjoy each others company.  I also slept over for the night and spent Christmas day with my parents and two brothers.   Follow that up with a traditional turkey dinner with my Grandparents and you have a pretty awesome holiday!

Turkey dinner was amazing by the way!  Definitely stuffed myself.

What!?

Yes..I ate a lot of turkey, mashed potatoes, salad and desert!

Isn’t that cheating?

Nope!

I finished my plan on the 24th.   Good planning on my part right!? :)

Yes, I went three months with no sweets, fast food, alcohol (except once…I let myself try the 18 year old scotch one of my best friends opened…only a little though), sugary drinks, refined carbs, and any other junk you can think of.  Pretty good right!  Ya, but unfortunately it’s also the reason I’m writing this with a stomach ache!

So are you just going to go back to sweats?  No!  I let myself eat what I wanted to this weekend for two reasons.  First I feel I earned it and second I wanted to shock my body so that it remembers what junk food is like.  My body was adjusting to the clean eating.  Can’t have that if I’m going to continue losing fat.

A couple questions I’ve been asked a lot since finishing are “How’d I do?” and “What’s next?”

Here are the answers:

I think I did ok…I lost a total of 20 pounds and dropped 7% body fat.  My final stats where 185lbs and 8.5% body fat.  So…ok right!?  I also accomplished a couple of my fitness goals, which were to get to 10% body fat and to do 100 pushups consecutively without breaks.

What’s next? …well I need to set some new goals.   I already have some ideas and plans but I will talk more about these in my next blog post.  Enjoy the rest of your holidays and remember…

Jonathan

Journey completed or just started?

Today I weighed in for the first time below 10% body fat!!  Having completed another one of my goals, I’ve come to realize two things.  One, I need new goals, and two I feel amazing!

It’s probably the adrenaline from my morning run, but I definitely hit a high when I weighed in at 9.5% bf and realized that I’ve completed this lag of my fitness journey.
Guess I will need to rename the blog.
I still have 33 days left in my Hitch Fit Fitness model transformation program and I plan on taking full advantage of them!  I will also continue posting updates here to hopefully inspire others towards reaching their fitness goals.

Phase 2 begins…

So this week I’m starting phase 2 of the workout portion of my HitchFit transformation, which is good because my body was starting to adjust to the workout.

There are three workout phases in the transformation.  I’m quite happy to say that so far this phase doesn’t have ridiculous amounts of reps and is instead more focused on intensity in short periods of time.  I still get my ass kicked every time I’m in the gym though.  The timed core exercises this time around are killer!

An interesting thing I’ve noticed, since I’m a fitness nerd who wears a heart rate monitor / calorie counter, is that the amount of calories burned and my heart rate zones are averaging out to be pretty consistent with the first phase.

Another thing I’m doing differently is moving my cardio to the morning.  This should increase my overall metabolic rate for the day and hopefully burn more calories.

Oh ya happy belated Halloween!   I hope you enjoyed some candy for me, since I couldn’t indulge myself.  I did however make a chocolate protein soufflĂ©.  Here is the recipe if you are interested in trying it http://robriches.ning.com/page/nighttime-souffle
